We have split ourselves into two minds and one is an imposter.
One is the lower, limited, rational (or irrational) sensory mind of the ego and the other is the higher intuitive mind of the soul, what I would call the mind of God, in Zen ‘no mind’, buddhi in Sanskrit.
Meditation enables me to operate from the higher mind; this is the mind that floats in absolute bliss and Aum. The whole goal of meditation is to establish ourselves in the higher mind and let the lower mind (ego) go.
Meditation is a reversal of the predominate mind. We establish ourselves in the higher mind until it becomes our predominate consciousness, our mode of operation. We establish ourselves in the transcendent Self of absolute bliss and Aum. The higher mind is never apart from us; it is only obscured by the lower body-identified mind of ego.
