Thought as medicine exceeds all material methods. Thought as medicine works on the subtle plane to correct the disturbance through the healing life energy of God. Gross substances like medicine work on the physical plane, indirectly. Thought works with divine will to directly address the issue.

These are things I learn through meditation when I realize I’m not the body or the thoughts; I’m the motivating factor that operates them — the soul. So I’m aware of the astral counterpart of the physical being, and with thought as medicine I’m able to treat the root of disease — the subconscious.

How can I treat a cat’s subconscious? First, I connect to my essential being of light and energy in the astral plane.  Then, I send or will the light and energy through the astral plane into the physical form of kitty, through visualization, touch, and positive thought and affirmation. I see kitty perfect and well in God’s light. I do not allow any doubt or negativity, any thought of the disease to enter. With faith, spiritual healing is accomplished, great miracles are accomplished.

Doctors try to heal on the material plane with medicine, and I try to heal on the spiritual plane with thought, energy, and light. Sometimes the medicines and instruments are enough, and other times they fail where thought and energy succeed.  Medicines and instruments cannot reach the subconscious where dysfunctional patterns of thought lay hidden.  This is the domain of a spiritual healer.

My cat has been sick and after a long 24 hours of emergency care I brought her home. Lying next to me last night, I could feel the tension in her little body. I tried to help her relax, but I was just as tense and I realized I couldn’t help her unless I relaxed myself first. Then, the healing energy could flow through me.

To worry and stress over situations makes one ineffective. To be of any help requires calmness and a positive state of mind; then one may offer some relief. All actions and words coming from a restless and tense body and mind have little healing benefit. The patient will feel the tension and the tension will negate any positive action.

This is spiritual healing — allowing the light of God to flow unimpeded. After a multitude of tests by two different vets and an emergency care clinic, no one could tell me what was wrong with my cat. I have observed doctors are often dumbfounded, relying upon instruments and tests which have limitations. I would rather rely upon the healing vibration of Spirit which has none.

I’ve been blessed by the eagles (and my guru), and my soul consciousness is expanding. To be conscious of the soul, to the exclusion of the body and material changes is to be extremely happy, beyond the ups and downs of ever changing situations. The happiness of the soul is already with us, we only need to rise on the current of meditation and soar.

The highest use of our will is to attune it to divine will and be guided by that in everything. When through faith our will is tuned to divine will nothing is beyond our reach. Faith, the evidence of things unseen, is the key to receptivity and surrender. How do we know of God or Truth? Though faith, the intuitive perception of things unseen.

All of this ties into my day to day life. These words may seem abstract, but when a concrete example manifests, then faith or knowledge of God is a reality that guides even the smallest details. I turned my job search over to God. First, I had a mental visualization of what I wanted, then I wrote it down, then I made contact with the Infinite, and then I prayed.

Yesterday, I went to an employment agency and they had a job opening come in the previous day — desktop support at a hospital. Was I surprised? Yes and no. I’m surprised how quickly God responds when the devotee asks and works the divine law.

However, as in all visualization, one must be very exact. Divine law works down to the minutest detail. So I’ll be tweaking my visualization a bit. Also it always works better to defer to divine will in these matters. If the desire is not materializing then perhaps the universe has something better in mind.

Funny how my life flows along with the river, everything always coming back, time depositing years like sediment on the banks. I was worried that Lancaster would feel the same as those forgone years. But I needn’t worry as I’m the changed one.

There is a new season in the air, the geese declare. I remember and I don’t, and the river flows on today, as before.

I’ve taken a couple of bike rides, misjudged the heat of the day and the steep climbing and about passed out. Lots of long squeaky freight trains run during the night and the whistle blows when they are directly below my house. With whistles at 1 or 3 or 5am, I haven’t slept through an entire night yet. To not hear a train whistle is starting to seem strange.

I’ve traded forests for cornfields. There is some forest by the river; everywhere else is corn, corn, corn, and cows. The house is immaculate and a perfect location for me. The neighbors seem friendly enough, but I’m uninterested in socializing. I’m here for my family, the river and the eagles.

Glowing sunsets on the Susquehanna make it all worthwhile (see Susquehanna tab). My first bald eagle sighting came Aug 21, in the Conejohela Flats. The eagle stood motionless on a sand flat, only the white head cocked from time to time. Everyday I stare longingly at the river. Today I go to look at kayaks.

Underneath my little wave of consciousness, I’m supported by the vast Divine Mind and Energy — it permeates my being. When I feel this vastness beyond myself and within, I know I’ve touched my real Self.

My individual life is only as important as my ability to express the One consciousness.

I just finished step four this morning and this is how my guru summarizes this step:

When you are in attunement with your Infinite Source, you know yourself to be made in His image and in possession of His qualities. You know yourself as a creator, possessing unlimited power, and you realize your responsibility to the Father’s plan. The laws of the Cosmos are the laws of your being. God’s work is your work.

The real devotee consciously accepts God’s will as his own, as the will of all good, so he forgets his little self in the greater Self and finds progress in obeying that will. In having consciously accepted his heritage, he is now aware of a more rapid expansion of consciousness and a preparation for the light that until now would have been too great for him to bear.

This is basically what I’ve been feeling and trying to express, though not as eloquently as my guru. I am receiving more and more light and a feeling of expansion. When I’m able to drop the little self and act as a channel, I feel an attunement with divine will and cosmic law, and every action and thought conform to God’s plan.

Eagle medicine is not only about grasping material opportunities, but also spiritual opportunities. Can I expand my spiritual vision and grasp the opportunities as they arise during meditation? It depends on my determination, my vision, and the wisdom to know which opportunities to grasp. Opportunities come by alignment with divine will and cosmic law — they are self-created. Wisdom also comes by alignment. Wisdom is God’s will working through us for the highest benefit of body, mind, and soul, and in turn the prosperity of others.

And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not….

Soul wisdom is the light of the world; but the world in darkness under the delusion of body consciousness cannot comprehend the light of the soul which shines undiminished within all. We can’t comprehend the light until by self effort our spiritual perception expands. At last through God’s grace and our steady effort, we grasp the sun and resurrect the long buried soul.

I’ve never, ever, committed one hundred percent. I’ve always held back a little piece of myself, always nursed a little doubt. But this is not the way to realize God’s presence or feel God’s love, and I want more than anything to feel that love again.

It is no coincidence that I’m moving to eagle territory, the Lower Susquehanna Valley. Daily, I’m reminded to keep my feet grounded, and at the same time let my Spirit soar. Eagle represents the unlimited power of spiritual perception — the all-seeing, ever-expanding, all-inclusive consciousness within. The Real Self, the soul, knows itself to be above the body and the mind, yet fully able to grasp all opportunities using the instruments of body and mind.

I understand now. God has given us free will; it’s up to us to use it wisely. When we don’t use it wisely we suffer. We over-indulge body and mind and neglect the soul. The soul doesn’t want material gain and sensual appeasement, the soul seeks union with it’s divine source — the lost love we all seek.

Earthly life is a test, and we keep coming back until we pass. We pass by turning our will over to God, by faith. When God guides our will we can enjoy all earthly delights without attachment, without suffering.

Soaring above the senses, unattached to the fruits, the eagle gradually gains liberation. I am learning to see as the eagle, grasp as the eagle, and soar beyond sight. Illumination by wisdom, by true knowledge of self, is a disappearing act.
