Dear Readers,

I started this blog for two reasons: to help myself, writing is the way I understand the world, and second, to be of service by sharing my understanding. I strongly believe my journey to Self-Realization is everyone’s journey and it is in the spirit of universal consciousness that I write.

I have always kept a journal and I have always been sensitive to the spiritual world. This blog is where the two themes of my life meet - writing and spirituality.

I have a strong affinity with Eastern philosophy and metaphysics. In college I had my first exposure to Eastern philosophy. There I was introduced to Buddhism, Taoism, and some Hindu teachings. Of these studies, I was deeply attracted to Zen Buddhism.

In my early Thirties, I found my guru, Paramahansa Yogananda, and became a Self-Realization Fellowship student finishing the four year course in metaphysics. I have been a SRF member since 1989. During that time there have been periods I have not practiced and periods when I studied other teachings.

I have refocused during the last two years and realize that while I may have many teachers who come and go in this life; I have one eternal guru — the one who can lead me to God. I started studying the metaphysical lessons in depth, reading them again and again. I started a disciplined meditation practice, meditating for an hour or more twice daily.

Summer of 2006 I embarked on a creative writing journey with the goal of being published by the end of summer. I achieved the goal and have since been published several more times. Being published and sharing my writing is a manifestation of my spiritual practice.

This is where I am today, trying to find my way back to God and at the same time express the creative power that is within me.

The kingdom of God is within; may you also realize and express this divine truth.

Namaste,
Marlea

I resonate with all of this. I am also journaling and have been with Master Yogananda since 1998, Kriya initiate since 1999. Thank you for sharing this. I feel a kindred spirit is out there. You! I will come back and read more when I feel I need it.
